Russia Moves To Self-Sufficiency In Beer Production

The largest member companies in the Association of Beer, Malt and Beverage Producers (APP), together with partner farmers, have increased the sowing area for malting barley 6% this year to 240,700 hectares, a press release from the APP said. Farms in over 20 regions of Russia grow malting barley for APP members, predominantly in Altai, Voronezh, Tula and Moscow regions. The APP unites the largest Russian producers of brewing products – AB InBev Efes, Baltika and United Breweries (OPH LLC). Russian Dried Fish & Vodka Exports To Brazil Increase

Russia exported more than 24 tonnes of dried fish to Brazil totaling nearly US$400,000 in 10M 2025, according to the Russian Agriculture Ministry’s Agroexport Center. Most of the shipments were cod. Russia did not previously supply dried fish to the Brazilian market, the center said, noting that “Brazilians now have an excellent snack to go with beer while watching football matches.” Russia also resumed shipments of vodka to the country in October after a break since December 2024. Russia Resumes Global Beer Exports

Russia has resumed exporting beer to a number of countries, including Burkina Faso and Uruguay, in the first quarter of 2025. The Agriculture Ministry’s Agroexport center said that Russia shipped around 16 tonnes of beer to Burkina Faso for the first time since 2021.
